HOW TO SEND IN MATERIAL
We welcome news from parishes, organisations, schools and individuals. Space may be limited so the Editor reserves the right to edit material which is sent in. We cannot guarantee that every article we receive will be used, though we will do our very best to include material from across the diocese.
Here’s how to send in material.
Write your article telling us:-
what happened or is about to happen
who is involved or will be involved
where it is happening or will happen and when
why the event is being held or this story is being written
If you are not confident in how to write you can use the form below, which you can download, and we will write it for you.
You can send your article through the post or you can send it electronically. If you are doing this, please send it as a Word document. Please do not use Publisher.
Photographs of events and people are very welcome. They can be sent to us in the post with your article. Photographs need to be clear and on photographic paper. This is because scanning does not produce good copy if the photographs are printed on photocopy or poor quality paper.
We are happy to receive photographs electronically but if you are doing this, we require text and photographs to be sent separately. The easiest way of doing this is to send your text without photographs as a Word document and then send your photographs as Jpeg files attached to your e-mail. Please do not include your photographs with your text.
Let us know if you wish to be acknowledged as the photographer.
Material needs to reach us by the first of the month for publication at the end of that month.
News direct from other newspapers is sometimes sent is to us. We cannot print verbatim what another newspaper has printed. Nor can we use pictures which belong to another newspaper. If you send in a photograph you have bought from a different publication, you need to obtain copyright from them for us to use it.
Child protection is a vital consideration. It is our policy not to publish the full names of children or an individual child when the article is accompanied by a photograph of them. We have to use a phrase which does not identify them as individuals when we write a caption to the photograph, e.g. children from Year 4 win the trophy.
