OPENING THE SCRIPTURES
“In the sacred Scriptures the
Father who is in heaven
comes lovingly to his children and speaks with them.”
Vatican II On Divine Revelation 22

The place of Scripture has a high priority in the life of the Church. The department offers a range of events aimed at opening the Scriptures in a way that is accessible and exciting.
Short courses (usually 4 or 6 evening sessions) on a Scriptural topic or theme can be arranged. Alternatively, a book from the Bible can be explored. Sessions such as these have been held in various parts of the diocese in the past.
The next short series on the Passion Narratives will be held at Our Lady & St James, Worsbrough on 7th March, 21st March and 4th April, all at 7.30pm. All are welcome, no previous knowledge required. If you have a Bible group or want to explore the Scriptures in the parish, please contact us for further details.
There are two modules on the Catholic Certificate of Religious Studies which deal specifically with Scripture. You are welcome to attend these even if you do not register for the full Certificate programme.
