The
Hallam Pilgrimage
is
renowned for the way in which it takes care of its sick. All Pilgrims
stay
in good quality hotels and thanks to the dedication of the doctors,
nurses and helpers who are part of the Pilgrimage, those who are sick
have no need to stay in hospitals.
With
20 years experience, our Pilgrimage is geared to helping those who
are sick to make their way in safety and comfort to the Shrine at
Lourdes. Wheelchairs are provided for those who need them and helpers
are assigned to each hotel.
Our
Pilgrimage Journey will begin
on the morning of Thursday, 29th June when groups set off by coach for
Manchester Airport from the various parishes throughout the Diocese.
Help is on hand for those who need it to check-in and board the aircraft
for the flight to Lourdes. There are meals on the flight and coaches
available to transfer our pilgrims to their hotels, all of which are
within easy walking distance of the Domain.
For
the next six days .........
new
friendships will be forged and old acquaintances renewed as our
programme unfolds.
We try to keep parish groups together in the same hotel but our
first priority is to meet the needs of our sick pilgrims.

A
distinctive badge which pilgrims receive with their prayer book and
programme is easily recognised in the streets of Lourdes or in
the holy places around the Grotto. |

|
A
focal point of our Pilgrimage
is
the Blessed Sacrament Procession which takes place each afternoon
during which the sick receive a blessing.
Later
each evening, pilgrims make their way to the Domain for the Torchlight
Procession in honour of Our Lady. Our pilgrims are welcome to take
part in the procession or at the International Mass which takes place
in the underground Basilica.
Youth Section
A group of young people travels with
the pilgrimage. Some travel overland from 26 June- 5 July. A smaller group travel by air. For more information
