Regular maintenance is vital for all properties, regardless of age, scale or purpose. Now in its 10th year, SPAB's annual National Maintenance Week brings practical and straightforward advice on maintenance and repairs to everyone who looks after a property. As usual, National Maintenance Week takes place at the end of November, just as winter weather threatens the worst. Jonathon Foyle (pictured) from the TV series 'Climbing Great Buildings' is promoting this initiative for SPAB. Follow this link to the NMW website.

All parishes can benefit from following the simple and timely maintenance tips - especially if done during this week before the winter sets in.

To assist parishes, particularly with the maintenance of high level gutters and roofs, Peter Shaw & Co. has launched a new service - ThruFlow Gutter Services. Peter Shaw has a long-established relationship with many parishes across the Diocese. If you wish to find out more, please view the brochure here. Parishes have responsibility for the care and maintenance of their parish buildings. The Property Department can provide support and advice on all matters concerned with the use, care and maintenance of parish buildings.

If you require a copy of any of the Property Information sheets prepared by the Property Department, please go to the 'request' page by following the link on the side menu on the left. These are available as 'pdf' documents and will be emailed to you (or posted if preferred) as soon as possible. Information sheets are available on the following topics:

The old adage "a stitch in time saves nine" applies to many things including the maintenance of buildings, especially parish buildings. Caring for buildings involves two principle activities - 'looking' and 'doing'. The website Faith in Maintenance is a valuable resource with good advice for parishes to consider and follow. Although Faith in Maintenance is an initiative by the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings (SPAB), the advice available is applicable to buildings of any age.
