FINANCE
The services provided by the Diocesan Schools' Department are funded in a number of ways:
Through existing contributions from parishes to Diocesan central funds.
Through Local Education Authorities from funds not yet delegated but made available in such areas as governor training.
Through our family of schools via the contribution scheme of £4.39 per pupil. (65p per pupil is passed on to the national agency of the Bishops' Conference - The Catholic Education Service.)
Through the Department itself from income generated through INSET, inspection, consultation, book sales, publications, and the professional services of the Advisor to other dioceses.
The financial contribution made by schools helps to safeguard and develop Catholic Education across the diocese.
None of our Catholic schools are autonomous institutions and while support is available to all schools irrespective of status, priority will always be given to those where the need is greatest.
It would not be appropriate to develop service level agreements without substantially higher contributions from schools and additional full-time staff.
